Gratedrain

I had pioneer put in a drainage system 2 years ago and it is fantastic. My question is about the gratedrain that is installed in front of my basement door. The gratedrain is just barely keeping up with the water coming in through my basement door. What is your advise on getting the grate drain to pass the water faster? Could I drill a hole at the bottom of the drain to make it drain faster? Is there anything I can do?

I'm a little paranoid since I just finish my basement, Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

TIA

whatever you do, don't drill a hole in the system.

The GrateTrench is designed to stay open as long as there's water flowing into it. Drilling a hole will compermise the closed system aspect.

We could do one of the following:

*Add another section of Grate Trench in front to deal with more volume.
*Upgrade to a larger opening system Garage Grate - which can also tie into the system.

Ether way: Please call the office directly: 1-800-649-6140 and ask for the service department.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't get crazy and drill holes. Once I removed the top grates, the little grate, and the piece that the little grate sits in I got a snake and fished it in the little hole and that seemed to get it to flow better. It was nerve racking for sure.

My cellar door is a walk in that steps down 3 steps below the ground line and when the water table rises the water comes up through the drain. Normal rain actually goes down the drain.

Is it possible to access the drainage system from the outside rather than waiting for the water to enter through the door then into the drainage system?

Again thanks for the reply.

We've done some pretty interesting things with Grate Drain and Grate Trench in quite a few basements.

I'm quite sure that if one of project managers revisited the design we might be able to help.

Let me know if you'd like someone to contact you.
